Side Drawer

A side-drawer navbar lives on the left or right edge, or slides in from it, instead of running across the top. On desktop it frees the full width of the page for content. On mobile it is the standard off-canvas menu.

L'Étude runs its drawer down the centre of the page as a vertical list that also filters the work. East Asian Graphics Archive, Adrien Lamy, American Haiku and Nektar each put navigation at the edge so the page can breathe.
